The user will trigger the CI pipeline with the parameters of a previously failed pipeline. So you can perform release your application component without skipping the version number that previously failed.
You can use the feature in case you don't want to set up again your failed preview deploy and use the setting that you already did in a previous failed run of your preview pipeline.
